Greetings programmers!
The organizers have been working really hard to put together great set
of workshops this coming Saturday! We're looking forward to seeing you
all then!
This is a final reminder that if you plan to attend the afternoon
sessions on Saturday that are involved in either Twitter or Yelp, you
MUST complete the steps on these pages BEFORE SATURDAY:
Twitter: https://wiki.communitydata.science/Twitter_authentication_setup
Yelp: Nhttps://wiki.communitydata.science/Yelp_API_Key
If you want the option of going to both session, you must do both.
The back-story is that using either Twitter or Yelp requires applying
for access and having your application reviewed and approved by the
company. If you do not apply days in advance, you will not be able to
participate in the Twitter or Yelp sessions on Saturday
afternoon. We'll explore more on Saturday.
We will *also* be running a parallel session on using data from
Wikipedia. This session does not require any special access so anybody
who does not apply in advance so everybody who shows up will be able
to work on this afternoon session.
We're looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday morning at 9:45am!
Regards,
Mako

Greetings!
Just a final reminder that the Community Data Science workshops start
this evening in just a few hours!
Our first meeting is TONIGHT (Friday January 17th) to install software
and to start learning the basics of programming and Python. Tonight,
we will meet in the Communications building (CMU) Room 104 at UW 6:00
to 9:00 PM. The session will be work-at-your-own-pace and is *not*
likely to take full three hours for most people. If you can't get
there right at 6pm, that's OK.
Tomorrow (Saturday morning), we will meet at 9:45AM in Savery Hall
Room 260. Lunch and afternoon sessions will also be in Savery. Please
don't be late!
The organizers and I have put some basic logistic information online
here and will be updating this page as the workshops progress:

I look forward to seeing you all tonight!
Later,
Mako

Greetings soon-to-be programmers and data scientists!
This email is being sent through a new email list we've created for
the upcoming Community Data Science Workshops which you will be
participating in!
If this email went to your promotions or spam folder, you should move
the email out and try to "whitelist" future email from the
cdsw-wi2020-attendees(a)communitydata.science email list and/or from me.
Future announcements will go *only* to this email list and it’s
important that you see these messages. I'm going to send one "welcome"
and "you're accepted" email to each of you individually but that will
be the last direct communication. The rest will come through this
list.
As always, details on the workshops are online at our website:
http://wiki.communitydata.science/CDSW_Winter_2020
We're all super excited to be working with you over the next few
weeks!
Regards,
Mako
